Child Pornography

Child pornography is considered as one of the most serious contemporary problems on the web today. It is certainly the ultimate form of sexual abuse and maltreatment of children causing a great damage to them and to their future. Sad to say, the Internet has now become a very powerful tool in exploiting children. Cyber criminals seem to have no fears at all with the authorities as they keep on infecting their websites with all those images of underage children and of course these businesses will not go any farther if there are no constant clients that feed them. We are not talking about a few selected countries that do have unprecedented cases of child pornography because problems can almost be found almost everywhere. And come to think of it, offenders include even those respected and well-educated professionals such as teachers, accountants, government employees, and scientists.

In order to combat this problem of online child pornography, consolidated efforts by different government agencies and international organizations are now being strengthened and given support. The problem on the absence of standard definition on child pornography among countries somehow created misconceptions and confusions. In some countries, all depictions of nudity of minors, regardless of whether the minor is depicted in an erotic pose or engaging in a sex act, are considered illegal. And anyone proven guilty of doing or promoting such is subjected under the law. On the other hand, in some countries with their naturist magazines with depictions of nude underage persons do not fall under the definition of child pornography, and are widely distributed to their market. A number of countries also prohibit written works that explicitly describe sexual activities of minors. Just recently, simulated child pornography such as drawings, paintings, or computer-generated images, has been included in some countries' definition of child pornography. In spite of all these differences, the efforts to give protection to countless children against this kind of abuse managed to gain positive response from various sectors.

The ASACP and Its Role Against Child Pornography
• The ASACP (Adult Site Against Child Pornography) is an international organization committed to protect helpless children and at the same time help the adult industry in their battle against child pornography. The organization was established in 1996, and since then it became a constant partner of the government in enforcing laws concerning child pornographic sites.

• The Organization believes that knowledge about the problem could somehow help the concerned sectors and individuals in handling and understanding such an issue and will in some ways facilitate in creating possible solutions to the problem.

• The Organization makes sure that they will, at all cost, enable the adult site industry to do their part in solving the said problem. This is because they are the ones who are more informed and knowledgeable about the issue.

• Strengthening sectoral relations is also their primary concern. They make sure that each sector does its part in combating child pornography.

• Reporting child pornography sites to the suitable government and civic organizations is deemed important.

• And lastly, ASACP makes sure that its members are always well-informed and familiar with current legislations, issues and developments of their plans.
